Areas covered: Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary, Neora Valley National Park, Pangolakha Wildlife Sanctuary and Singalila National Park.

Arrived in Bagdogra from Calcutta on 12th March and straightaway drove to the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary. No sightings on the day as we spent only a couple of hours and headed back to Siliguri for overnight stay.  Next day morning we proceeded from Siliguri to Mahananda for morning birding. Later in the day we proceeded towards Latpanchar. We could see the Rufous Necked but could photograph. We were unlucky have missed on Sultan Tit as well.

Next day we moved to Lava to visit Neora Valley where we were lucky to get the Yellow Rumped Honeyguide.  However the climate was not condusive but still managed to get a few pics of the Black Faced Laughing thrush and the Chestnut crowned laughing thrush.

We then proceeded to Padamchen and were put up on Lamakhang Lodge.  We stayed here for 3 nights and did some birding around.  We travelled to Zuluk for the Himalayan Monal, however the weather was so bad, it snowed heavily and we would not reach the point.
We had to stop halfway and return back. Post lunch we proceeded to Tumling for overnight stay.  It was extremely cold and the night temperatures were less than zero.

We went out for birding but the weather was very gloomy.  Due to unforeseen circumstances we had to return to Siliguri for the night.

We departed from Bagdogra to Bangalore via Calcutta not happy souls. On the whole the trip was not as expected mainly due to the weather conditions.
